BOTKYRKA, Sweden — In a new development on Sweden’s political scene, the well-known Syriac politician Aday Bethkinne officially announced the founding of the Christian Family Party (Kristna Familje Partiet), which he said aims to preserve authentic Christian values and traditions.

In a post on his Facebook page, Bethkinne explained that the party’s logo draws inspiration from the colors of the Swedish flag, featuring a cross symbolizing the foundations of Swedish civilization and Christian faith.

Bethkinne stated that the party does not force its members to compromise their values or beliefs, stressing that it is a party by the people and for the people and inviting all those who believe in change to join its ranks.

He added that work is currently underway to build the party’s organizational structure with plans to contest its first elections in the municipality of Botkyrka and possibly expand later to other municipalities.

Bethkinne emphasized that the party will be a popular movement that stands up for citizens and upholds truth and moral values, noting that its focus will be on the nuclear family, the defense of genuine Christian values, and the preservation of Swedish traditions.

Aday Bethkinne, a prominent politician in Botkyrka Municipality south of Stockholm, was one of the leading local members of the Christian Democrats (Kristdemokraterna, KD), having won the second-highest number of personal votes in the 2022 elections. However, he resigned in the summer of 2024 over disagreements concerning family policies and the party’s stance on Christian values.
