    India’s Defense Procurement Administration, led by Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, is set to approve several defense contracts with Israel worth about $3.76 billion on November 23.

    The new package includes advanced MR-SAM air defense missiles and rockets for the Indian ground forces.

    The missiles are developed by Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) together with India’s Bharat Dynamics Limited (BDL), and both the Indian Navy and Air Force plan to acquire more than 300 units.

    A key factor behind Israel’s success in the Indian market is its early alignment with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “Make in India” initiative. In 2024, IAI established a local subsidiary called ASI, a joint venture employing mostly Indian staff and conducting all business in rupees.

    ASI produces and supports the MR-SAM system, a highly advanced air defense platform that integrates radar, command systems, mobile launchers, and interceptors equipped with modern radio-frequency sensors.

    The growing defense ties show how Israel and India became very close partners.
