  1. I’ll believe it when China says it’s true.

  2. Looking forward to the news stories 3, 6, 12 months from now about how China didn’t actually end up buying more soybeans and for those stories to go largely unnoticed… and yet all the soybean farmers and communities that depend on them still support Trump.

  3. Trump saved the day by partly fixing the problem he created.

  4. Pathetic. Actually decreased what was being sold. This is why anybody that knew Don Snoreleone said he sucked at business.

  5. Basically same trade result but had to bail out farmers this year. So a net loss.

  6. Trump had to fly there and negotiate just to get back to the Biden economy 🤣

  7. The farmers lose money, government bails out farmers

  8. lol, yes at the same metric tons but the catches is at a lower price point. lol

  9. Is this another Republican fuck shit up, “fix it”, and then claim it as a victory?

  10. Interesting strategy. Break something, then bring it back to the state it was before and brag about how you solved the problem.

  11. I’m still waiting for Foxconn to build the $10 billion factory in Wisconsin. Taco promised it in 2021

  12. So, if true, we are exactly where we were a year ago. Only we trashed our reputation and lost billions in the process.

  13. This is another example where he screws something up and gets a “deal” that’s the same or worse than what it was before he screwed it up.

    But, now he gets to take credit, and his braindead simps gobble it right up without a single question.

  14. Typical Trump deal.

    Insult other country and cause harm to Americans then negotiate back to where we were pre-insult

    Of course then claim success

  15. Anyone who wants to look it up can easily do so: this is literally the expected amount as what China was already buying. As in, we sold 27 million metric tons in 2024, the last year of Bidens presidency. So China is literally saying “we commit to a 0% increase”

    They’re literally taking a victory lap after gaining nothing, taxing their own people for billions, and putting hundreds of family farms into bankruptcy.

  16. When they say statements like this, how does it actually works? The Chinese government will force Chinese companies to import American soybeans?

    I have the same question when it comes to democracies. Trump said that Japan ou South Korea will invest hundreds of billions in the USA. They can’t force their banks or private investments funds to do that. How does it actually work?

  17. Until China announces a deal with America it’s not a deal.

    Trust me I don’t believe China over america, but I believe China over Trump.

    And believing anything from Chinas state media is wild.

    The age we live in. 🫠

  18. No matter what happens next, farmers should never forget that they were used as pawns to get us right back to the same level of sales we were at in the last 5 years (22-24 m tons/yr) and had to waste a season and go into hock into the bargain. Trump is an idiot. Anyone who votes for him will suffer.

  19. Congratulations to Donald Trump for negotiating a solution to the problem caused by… *check notes*… Donald Trump.

  20. I won’t believe a word that lying fraudster or his administration says until it’s signed and proven. For all I know, this is just to shut up farmers and nothing is actually happening. They could be filing for bankruptcy while simultaneously wondering if they’ll get bailed out. And probably still support a third term and blame China, and anyone left of them whether they are liberal or not.

  21. Lifts the fucking tariffs he put in place just to rescind them to beg China to buy fucking beans. What an absolute piece of shit

  22. It was 36m metric tons in 2016 before Trumps first term and then it cratered during his first trade war. It recovered under Biden to 27m yearly. The negotiated price is also lower than what they were paying previously so the government will need to subsidize yhe difference. So Trump made a “deal” that is significantly worse than what Biden did as part of his normal job and is still more than 40% less by volume than before he messed everything up. This is Trumps definition of winning.

  23. Like they did before the tariffs?

    Trump “fixing” the crises he creates.

    Par for the course.

  24. This is not a win, this isnt even a return to the status quo, this takes soybean sales back to just above the 2008 level, and the lowest level since 2018 during the first Trump administration following tariffs introduced at that time. If we take the 25 million tons value for 2026 at face value then that will still be equivalent to around 2010 to 2013 numbers, after sales were greater every than 25 million tons except 2018.

    Data from the article graph
    * Year | Soybean Purchase Tonnage (millions)
    * 2007: 11.77

    * 2008: 16.51

    * 2009: 22.82

    * 2010: 24.31

    * 2011: 20.69

    * 2012: 26.2

    * 2013: 24.55

    * 2014:30.83

    * 2015: 27.26

    * 2016: 36.05

    * 2017: 31.69

    * 2018: 8.24

    * 2019: 22.61

    * 2020:34.17

    * 2021:27.37

    * 2022: 30.23

    * 2023: 26.39

    * 2024: 26.81

    * 2025 (Jan to Oct): 5.93

    * 2025 (Jan to Jan est based on Treasury secretary statement): 17.93

    * 2026: Estimated according to treasury Secretary statement): 25

  25. Couple things. First, they only agreed to buying 12million this year, a 50% cut from last year. Second, they only agreed to an option of buying 24 million, not actually setting an order for it.

  26. before trump china was buying close to 30 metric tones of soybeans a year

  27. This is dumb. China was already buying soy until some moron slapped tariffs on them. Trump “solved” a problem he created, ultimately he did absolutely nothing except bankrupt small farmers in the short term.

  28. I don’t care what Bessent says. I want to hear what China says. There have been too many times the Republicans have been caught lying about trade deals.

  29. Remember earlier this week, Trump said Toyota was making a multi-billion investment into the US and then the next day Toyota said it had not such plans.

  30. For context, 25 million metric tons annually is less than what they purchased from the U.S. in:

    * 2012
    * 2014
    * 2015
    * 2016
    * 2017
    * 2020
    * 2021
    * 2022
    * 2023
    * 2024

    In 2013 they purchased 24.55 million. In 2018 they purchased 8.24 million. In 2019 they purchased 22.61 million. Source: A chart in OP’s article.

  31. I’ll wait for China to say so, until then this is all just plain BS. Can’t believe we are in a world where China’s word is trust worthy than the US.

  32. Agreed to but its not on paper and its not contractual.

    Lmfao

  33. The deal is for 12 metric tons. Not 25.

    The 25 figure was from a quote directly from trump which appears to be disassociated with the actual terms of the agreement, and then later mistakenly published by the AP.

  34. I’m waiting for the news headline “President Xi says No trade deal has been established with U.S. for 25 million metric tons of soybeans, Per President Xi, he has never even spoken to Trump about said trade deal”

  35. They do know it doesn’t count until the Chinese say the Chinese are going to buy $25 million in soybeans, right?

    And even then it really doesn’t count until the check clears.

  36. Trump solves the problem Trump made, while leaving all the other problems Trump made. We should all love and thank him and prostrate ourselves for his pleasure.

  37. This is the one time I wish China would have told Trump to fuck off.

  38. But what does China say? After the Toyota story you should lead with what the country said not what traitor ass Americans in the regime are saying

  39. Same bullshit. Trump causes problem. Trump fixes problem he caused. Trump claims victory. Repeat.

  40. If it’s actually true it’s less than last year. Art of the deal.
