Plaid Cymru and SNP leaders discuss forming ‘progressive alliance’

  1. I mean, if I’m perfectly honest I thought they already had that arrangement unofficially anyway – there was a big thing for a while maybe ten years ago or so of SNP members joining Plaid, and then vice-versa, since both parties allowed it as they don’t ever run against one another.

  2. Makes sense to me. Both are nationalist centre-left surrounded by imminent unionist right wing politics likely coming to England. It would be interesting to see if Sinn Fein ever does something similar.

I genuinely could see Britain having a Reform led Westminster with nationalists dominating the devolved parliaments in the not so distant future.

Worryingly one of UKIP(Farages last party)’s current manifesto pledges is to dissolve devolved parliaments so I wouldn’t be surprised if Reform tried to do the same.

  3. Devolved parliaments are already treated with some disdain, Reform however basically stated they want to gut any power they have. Banding together makes a ton of sense.

  4. Labour manifesto 2024 promise:

    • bring the UK together.

    Finally, a promise fulfilled.

  5. There is nothing progressive about Nationalism, in fact, I can’t think of anything less progressive.

  6. “Progressive alliance” is a completely meaningless term. Perhaps they should get up off their progressive arses and start campaigning for an Independent Wales and Scotland.
