I get the idea but from experience, the staff at tax offices are usually the most relaxed, friendly and helpful staff you encounter.

I think there’s a lot of truth in that, because here you always owe someone money or someone wants money from you, and you’re constantly checking your mailbox with dread. That’s what I hate the most
As an adult the things that scare me now are letters from my insurance, my utilities company, and literally anything from a Deutsche Amt. I miss being just scared of ghosts and monsters.
