The MCG turns silent for Ben
The MCG crowd went silent in tribute to Ferntree Gully teenager Ben Austin who tragically died after an accident while training in the cricket nets on Tuesday.
Players from both sides, umpires and representatives from Ferntree Gully, Mulgrave and Eildon Park cricket clubs all stood on the MCG to honour the teenage cricketer.

It’s a tragedy that resonates around the cricket world as players from all over can put themselves in the place of his parents and loved ones.
The silence was peerless. Fitting for the young man.
Both teams are wearing black armbands in his honour.

WICKET: Patel is run out
India are in all sorts of trouble at the MCG and the crowd sounds a bit stunned.
Axar Patel looked to have hit some easy runs but he was sent back as he tried to chase a third run.
The throw from the boundary was flat and powerful and Patel couldn’t get back to his crease despite a dive. Just to add injury to insult, he’s looking a bit ginger as well, like he hurt a muscle in his leg.
“You have to be disappointed with that,” David Warner said on Fox Cricket.
India are 5-49 from 7.4 overs.

Hazlewood’s work is done for now
Josh Hazlewood has finished his bowling spell with a stunning 3-13 from four overs.
He will take a rest and now the other Aussie bowlers need to follow his lead.
India are 4-47 from 7.1 overs.

WICKET: Hazlewood gets Yadav
The Indian top-order is in tatters and Josh Hazlewood is a big part of the reason why.
He has hit the seam hard and drew an edge from Yadav straight to keeper Josh Inglis.
With the previous ball, Inglis dropped a sharp chance off Yadav’s gloves, but he eventually got his man.
Hazlewood has 2-5 from 2.3 overs.
Tilak Varma is in now. He is the most dangerous batter in the line-up.
India 3-32 from 4.3 overs.
7.40pm
WICKET: Samson is out
Nathan Ellis has a wicket in his first over after trapping Samson on his crease and hitting his pad right in front of middle stump.
Ellis was very confident, Samson reviewed but it was clearly out.
India are 2-23 from 3.3 overs.
7.33pm
WICKET: Gill is out
It was only a matter of time for Gill who has looked far from his best tonight.
He tried to hit out against Hazlewood and all he did was loft the ball to Mitch Marsh who took an easy catch.
Sanju Samson is now in for India.
India are 1-20 in the third over.
7.32pm
Sharma finds the boundary – twice
Sharma is such an explosive batter.
He cracked a boundary and then lofted a shot deep towards extra cover and it sailed over for six.
Xavier Bartlett has been bowling a very tight line early, but Sharma took to him to end the over.
India are 0-19 halfway through the third over.

Gill hit in helmet but is OK
Now Gill has been hit in the front of the helmet.
It almost hit the Indian badge, it was so straight.

Gill has removed his helmet and is being quickly assessed by the media team.
He’s had a rough start missing the first and second balls and then being hit by a short ball.
Gill has a new helmet, and he looks to be playing on.
India are 0-0 from 0.3 overs.
7.19pm
Saved by the bounce
Gil has been saved by the review as it found the ball would have bounced over the stumps.
“It looked adjacent [out],” Shastri says on Fox Cricket.
But Gil survives.
India are 0-0.
