A Democratic lawmaker revealed the shocking detail after a Pentagon briefing for members of Congress.
The Trump administration has admitted that they are not trying to identify anyone aboard boats they accuse of sending drugs to the U.S. before bombing the vessels.
Speaking to CNN Thursday, Democratic Representative Sara Jacobs said she was told in a Pentagon briefing “that they do not need to positively identify individuals on the vessel to do the strikes” and that was part of the reason why the administration has not sought to detain or prosecute the survivors of the strikes, “because they could not satisfy the evidentiary burden.”
As far as the legal justification the White House is using to blow up boats in the waters surrounding Latin America, that information has only been available to select Republicans.
The U.S. has killed at least 61 people in more than a dozen airstrikes on boats in the western hemisphere that it claims are smuggling drugs and are part of “designated terrorist organizations.”

Lol, whoever actually believed that you could tell what’s on a boat by satellite/aerial imagery really needs to Google “free thinking”. It’s not like the cartels just pack their drugs in open boxes which say “Here be cocaine” and hold giant banners of their respective cartels.
Here’s a reminder that if it was the other way around (Venezuela bombing us ships) half the world would invade them and turn the entire country into a banana slave plantation immidiently.
Well this was pretty obvious but watch all the fascist shills and bots come out the wood work and try to downplay this. While they ignore the admin has yet to provide any proof these are drug boats outside of “trust me bro”.
It’s been pretty clear from the start especially considering stories coming out of venezuela of fisherman never coming home the same days as the strikes. Not to mention the administration’s refusal to elaborate in any way. If you have proof or any info validating this, why not fucking share it?
Especially considering the military buildup in the surrounding seas, it is fucking ominous not only that they are there, but that they are willing to carry out strikes on what may be civilian ships without reliable intel
Then again, they’re snatching people off the streets of America so why am I fucking surprised. We are so cooked
Extremely concerning aggression for political points and bizarre vibes-based justifications. How can they justify their domestic aggression against migrants? Make up some “drug war” nonsense. What do you do when you can’t actually present any evidence of notable threats or activity in your “drug war” excuse? You just play act fighting the war but against random innocent fishermen, maybe you’ll be able to incite an actual war! Yippee. You don’t even need to make it believable, who can fight back and demand the rules are actually followed?

The evidence isn’t sufficient for a trial, but it’s enough to kill them?
I think no one believed that they knew what those boats were for anyway. It’s all done to a) create an illusion of doing something b) to sate the bloodlust of American right to distract them from the dismal state of their society.
