Tirana, October 31 – Albania will receive a 113.6-million-euro loan from the World Bank to finance the “Resilience and Green Development” program.

Finance Minister Petrit Malaj said in Parliament that the loan will be provided as direct budget support. He emphasized that the agreement aims to strengthen public finances and back reforms in key economic and social sectors.

“This soft loan serves as a tool to consolidate fiscal stability and to support government reforms in renewable energy, environmental protection, and the green economy,” Malaj stated.

He added that the financing represents more than financial support. It reflects a joint commitment between the Government and the World Bank to align national policies with EU standards and make the economy more environmentally friendly.

“Albania has entered a new phase of European integration,” Malaj continued. “This agreement embodies not only legislation but also the model of development aligned with EU norms. Green growth means fiscal stability and a shift toward an economy that protects the environment and invests in clean energy”.

The minister concluded that the loan contributes directly to harmonizing Albania’s policies with the EU framework on climate, energy, and economic governance.
