As you probably know we now have the app "Staying Alive Lu". It is an app where a 112-operator can alert a citizen responder in the area to help a patient during a cardiac emergency. EIther by sending them to bring a Defibrilator (AED) or going directly to the patient to perform CPR until the emergency service arrives.

A few days ago I was alerted via the app to bring an AED to a patient, the app guided me to an AED that sadly was removed completely as there is now a construction site and the AED was not reported as removed in the database. I did however get the one of the daycare close-by that I then was able to bring to the patient. With that AED in hand I stopped a car to bring me to the patient, which the driver did.

Result: The patient is alive.

This brings me to the main reason of this post. The app is not only for citizen responders, but also for everyone to add AED's and verify them as well for updating the information of the AED's. I would ask everyone of you to get the app and verify your AED's, at work, clubs, schools and vicinity. This can save lives as every second counts and it is a loss of time when a citizen responder cannot find an AED because it was removed or if it is not functional.

Besides this the app also shows you the closest training center for first-aid courses. And the CGDIS is offering free courses too via: https://cours.cgdis.lu

  1. Is it enough to download the app or do you have to create an account?

  2. Were you the one who used the AED ? How do you know how to use it?

  3. Great project.
I assume you need mobile data/internet for the app to work? Sadly i dont have that 🙁

  4. It’s a great project but I get alerts from the nursing home near my house.
