  1. Wait, this was still running? Rob Dyrdek is still alive?

  2. I mean what were they going to do with it one they end MTV anyway?

  3. Wouldn’t it be super cheap to just run music videos from any era all day? Not as lucrative but it basically runs itself.

  4. It all fell apart after Chanel West Coast left.

  5. The slowest, unfunniest show possible. Like America’s Funniest Home Videos on horse tranquilizers.

  6. What am I going to put on in the background in a hotel now?

  7. That is crazy because anytime I ever saw that on TV I always assumed it was an old rerun from an already canceled show

  8. Wow just as it was finding its footing! Now we’ll never know how it ends.

  9. but what are my parents supposed to watch when they aimlessly flip through channels?

  10. One of my vids made it on this show. I got paid $250!

  11. End of an era. Might as well go back to playing music at this point

  12. The underbelly of this is that particular show is probably one of the least expensive original programs MTV could afford to make. I think it says more about the health of cable/satellite distribution than it does the quality of the show. I don’t think I have ever seen a full episode of it, but it had to be easy to keep producing it for over a decade.

Prior to the original programming, MTV would just pay for VJ’s and production teams to shoot video countdown segments or go live from a location like an award show or Spring Break. When the popularity and revenues began going through the roof, money was spent on original programs like Real World, Road Rules, and other much more expensive shows. That money and viewership doesn’t exist now, so even the low-cost, low-effort programs are being cut.

  13. 1,729 episodes over 46 seasons.

For anyone curious. Absolutely fucking **churned*” out content. Do those awful YouTube reaction video people even do 2 videos every week?

  14. Now what’s MTV supposed to air for the free 22 hours of the day?!

  15. It used to be funny before tik tok took over everything. I used to watch that show whenever I felt down, it was an instant mood booster. Now, when I’m feeling low, I just scroll through dog videos.

  16. Has it really been only 15 years? I feel like this was already airing 24/7 reruns on the hospital tv when I was born

  17. Bring back music to the MTV, I’d gladly play music videos and docs about the industry and artists. VH1 had pop-up music which was great

  18. Didn’t they just announce that MTV as a whole is going away soon?

  19. If you had told me in the late 90’s and early 2000s that MTV and Comedy Central would be as anemic as they are today I wouldn’t have believed you

  20. Well, Tosh.0 went off the air so they had no source material.

  21. So MTV is going off the air then? That’s literally the only thing they’ve shown for the last 10 years

  22. “The company is working to reimagine MTV for the future and is going to be exploring fresh formats,”

I’ve got a fresh format idea. How about actually playing Music Videos…on [M]usic [T]ele[V]ision again.

  23. So MTV just cancelled themselves? Isn’t that the only thing that channel airs?

  24. Who TF is watching MTV in this day and age 🤯

  25. So the 40 something year old host can finally stop acting like a teenager!

  26. I went to Backyard BBQ as a kid in 2012. Rob Dyrdek was there doing autographs, and being a huge fan of him at the time, i was ECSTATIC. Me and my dad walked around for a bit until they announced that people can start getting in line to meet Rob.

We waited in line for over an hour until there were only maybe 3 or 4 people ahead of us, with Rob literally sitting about 15-20 feet away. A security guard asks me and my dad if we have a gray wristband, as it was “required to meet Rob”.

My dad apologizes and explains that we didn’t know about the wristbands. He pulls out his wallet with zero hesitation and is like “How much are they? I’ll buy it right now”.

Security guard says “No, you needed to buy something from the DC booth for a wristband” and makes us get out of line. Right in front of Rob.

I understand rules are rules but Rob Dyrdek watched a child, wearing his merch, get kicked out of line and did nothing to intervene. I got a very hard lesson that day that celebrities don’t give a single fuck about their fans, only the money.

Fuck you Rob, this is catharsis to 13 year old me.
