Labour councillor who ‘shared Holocaust denial article that called Anne Frank a ”bisexual degenerate” and said ”you should have listened” to Hitler’ is suspended from the party ahead of election

  1. This happens in every party.

There is no vetting to become a low level Councillor.

If the ward is not a target one and the local party just wants bums on seats to block the other parties, then party members can easily put themselves forward for a vacancy and collect the signatures they need to stand for election or be co-opted.

There are tens of thousands of local councillors and they swap hands every few years. It’s just not practical to thoroughly vet them all.

Seemingly reasonable people sometimes don’t become monsters until elected.

So long as the party responds appropriately by booting the odd crazy out, then that’s as much as they can be judged.

  2. The Daily Heil desperately scrambling to find a Labour scandal amidst the utter cesspit that is the Conservative party.

  3. Funny he escaped the extremely rigorous anti Semitic purging that went on in Labour Party that saw for example, 6 long term councillors in Camden de selected for not totally dancing to the new party line and a large number of Jewish LP members kicked out for daring to suggest anything vaguely negative about Israel.

  4. Public service announcement. Being a degenerate isn’t reserved for members of a certain party. There are shitty (and good) people regardless of sex, gender, or political leanings.

Looking at the list of this month’s suspended MPs, it statistically pretty much works out.

  5. Theres been a lot of this in the last few weeks. Right wing newspapers desperately trying to find some scandal within the labour party. Then they can crow – Look, they’re just as bad!

  6. Is the point of this article that somebody did something bad and the party actually did something about it rather than lie, obfuscate and ‘wait for the inquiry to conclude’?

  7. lmao straight out of pol

This shit is why caring about local elections is dumb, the candidates are about as well adjusted on average as they are in the OP and their sole purpose is to decide how best to spend their 2p budget they get from the central government

  8. Wow antisemitism in the Labour Party – why am I not surprised? It’s funny how much denial there is on this sub and of course reaching to blame it on the tories.

  9. Sounds like a party are trying to look for something to distract from the last few years of utter incompetence.
Well played other party… well played…
