Bullshit. Having read about some of the sweetheart deals some utilities have signed up to, ratepayers will be on the hook.
Depending on the circumstances data centers can decrease costs

What a load of shit.
The bitcoin farm facility where I live basically makes money off reselling electricity. They more they consume (up to a point) the lower the rate they get from the utility. If they can’t maintain that rate the price to the facility goes up. So it’s in the facility’s interest to cram as many in there as they can and run them all the time.
Now if you’re going to tell me that it’s less expensive for the utility to produce more power for operations like this, please post your evidence along with it. Otherwise, STFU with this nonsense.
6-7. Amirite?
So energy rates don’t have supply and demand curves?
We have a radio talk show host in Columbia county in Georgia who is buddy buddy with the commissioners here and they are telling him that rate payers won’t pay for the increased power usage. What a lying piece of shit. He is also friends with members of Georgia’s PSC and they’ve been on his how numerous times now trying to say that. Republicans are liars and not to be believed.
Seems like a practical solution would be to require data centers to build out solar farms to power them, no?
Don’t believe them. If the bubble collapses, you are on the hook.
