    then:
    5% of that = $120 billion — enough to fund food stamps for one year.
    If their portfolios earned just 5% annual returns, that’s $120 billion in new wealth each year.
    In other words: they could fund the entire U.S. food stamp program every year just by donating the investment gains, while their total wealth stays the same.

  21. I was speaking to someone recently and they put forth that the government is clearly no longer serving us. If it is going to war without congressional approval, it is shutting down the government for over a month. It has fired hundreds of thousands of federal workers. And it is cutting food support to millions while militarizing our cities and bulldozing our White House.

    It is in clear violation of everything listed in the declaration of independence and our Constitution.

    So the question was, when are citizens going to take our government back? And I thought that was very interesting question to start asking, because what we have been doing isn’t working.

  38. Has anyone read what happened during 1917? I know I’m off topic but reading my grandkids paper I was outraged. Donald Trump and his minions are not the first people being cruel because of their xenophobia!

    I read about the horrors done by the United States Government during that period. Recently one of my grandchildren did some research for a school project. I knew that starting in 1917 the U.S. started using vinegar and kerosene to wash Mexicans migrants, as well as fumigating them with the poison.
    They forced everyone to undress and some perverts would take pictures of women for “the government archives.” I knew also that in 1920 the government started using Zycklon B. I knew it was a pesticide, what I didn’t know was that Zycklon B was made from hydrocyanic acid.

    I was shocked last night reading my grandkid research because she found a book written by Raul Hilberg ” The destruction of European Jews” Where it tells the story of Nazi scientist studying America’s use of Zycklon B on Mexican migrants and that was exactly what they used in the gas chambers in Auschwitz.
