In theory, they could appeal it, but they know that could be the death blow to MAGA in 2026 (I wouldn’t say permanently sadly, they did some things before that in the past would be a death blow to any movement, and though those things did some short term damage, they came bouncing back in 2024). By denying the benefits, they are able to use some sort of plausible deniability to blame Democrats and act like their hands are tied. But if the narrative changes from that to being that a judge ordered this and they’re fighting it, that could potentially cause some serious damage in 2026 that even gerrymandering can’t overcome… and this might even be a step too far for the Supreme Court to work in their favor. I could see the campaign ads now, “Republicans fought in court to prevent people from getting SNAP.”
The emergency fund is not even enough to cover the whole month of November.
Republicans do a really good job of making it clear they don’t want to help poor people, but the wealthy can ask for whatever they want. However, Americans voted for this clown twice. Hire a clown, expect a circus.
