Greece

The regional tourism office has integrated its marketing efforts with travel agencies from Central Poland and Denmark in order to bolster the region’s attractiveness and extend the tourism season. Polonia and Danish marketing efforts represent the targets of the region’s marketing thrust. We have integrated the tourism office with specialised travel agencies, which have expressed interest in continuing to address the region.

The new connections make the region more interesting to travellers and holidaymakers coming from Poland, Denmark, and beyond, as they promote more direct travel and reduce the need for further transfers.

Destination Appeal & Travel Features

Halkidiki is located in Northern Greece and is known for the unique three-peninsula finger shape that stretches into the Aegean Sea. Its beautiful beach resorts, in addition to the culture and nature that surrounds it, create a high demand.

Pine-covered coastlines, azure-clear waters, and river valleys promising quiet hikes, regionally inspired cuisine, and favourable transport from the dynamic city of Thessaloniki make the region appealing to active travellers and culture enthusiasts from Poland and Denmark.

Moreover, tourism experts active in the region point out that the prevailing strategy for the destination is more complex than the simple approach of “sun and sea.” Instead, the focus is on the development of nature and culture tourism, experience-based holiday propositions, and extending the travel season for diverse travellers.

Strategic Season-Extension & Market Diversification

Focusing on Poland and Denmark is part of the broader tourism development goal for Halkidiki concerning the diversification of source markets and the visitor season. Participation in B2B events in Warsaw and Copenhagen is a case in point: they aim to present the destination region to travel-trade and tour-operator partners in new markets and to reinforce emerging connections.

Direct flight connections with additional services on land is part of the initiative for attracting visitors beyond the high season. Better connectivity is also creating new opportunities for multi-market travel. For example, visitors can spend some time in Halkidiki and add a city break in Thessaloniki, or visit some of the remote attractions over the Northern interior of Greece.

Travel Planning and Visitor Considerations

Travellers from Poland and Denmark planning a holiday in Halkidiki are advised on the following:

Direct flights: for example, there are weekly flights from Poland and with new connections from the Scandinavian region, travel times are reduced and ease of travel is increased.

Regional access: Halkidiki is roughly an hour’s drive from Thessaloniki Airport, which, as part of the Greek mainland, offers good infrastructure.

Experience variety: Apart from relaxation on the beach, visitors can take part in tours to nature reserves and to places of cultural significance, gastronomy, and different leisure activities.

Seasonal flexibility: As it is the case for currently extending stays, visiting during early autumn or spring season offers favourable prices, fewer crowds, and warm weather.

The Outlook For Future Seasons

The regional tourism body, enhanced air connections, and specialised marketing in Poland and Denmark indicate that Halkidiki is ready to absorb rising visitor streams from Northern Europe. The region’s growing air connections and holiday offer diversification should benefit it in 2026 and beyond.

With the growing importance of Polish and Danish markets, we expect overworked travel operators and local Halkidiki providers to come out with additional offerings–multi-centre trips, and various combinations of nature-wellness, family, and off-peak travel packages to Greece.

Halkidiki’s proactive marketing in Poland and Denmark is the first step in what we hope will be an aggressive program for already-expanded tourism. Opening new routes and focusing on trade, the region presents a reimagined, easily accessible point of entry to Northern Greece’s treasures for Northern and Central European holidaymakers.
