  4. Russians in the ‘encirclement’ are being destroyed by a devastating Ukrainian counter-attack. I wouldn’t want to be one of the 170k. This is a sign of desperation. Putin is throwing anyone he’s got 

  5. Russian command has no sense of proportionality or what something is worth. They would spend huge amounts of men and materiel to capture small strips of depopulated rubble.

  8. Russia will dispose 50.000 men for every fortified city in Ukraine. And you might think that Russia is conquering Ukraine at a reasonable pace, but Bakhmut is only 70 km (45 miles away.)

    Russia wants this city before winter, because they aren‘t able to provide clothes, food or water in the open. That‘s why they try to brute force a victory.

    Kiev is closer to the piss Russia borders. Why not try to take Kiev? The Capital of Ukraine.

  14. I really hope Ukraine has put some effort into fortifying the next line of defense, so that they can withdraw when the situation becomes untenable.
