WANA (Nov 01) – Oman’s Foreign Minister, Badr bin Hamad Al-Busaidi, called for the resumption of negotiations between Iran and the United States during the annual Manama Dialogue conference, organized by the International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS) in Bahrain on Saturday.

Al-Busaidi emphasized that Iran’s participation in a comprehensive regional security framework is crucial for maintaining stability and fostering cooperation. He noted that Iran has repeatedly shown readiness for constructive dialogue at various stages.

“Real security is not achieved through isolation, containment, or marginalization,” Al-Busaidi said. “It is built on inclusivity and positive engagement among all regional countries. Historical experience has shown that exclusionary policies only exacerbate tensions and prolong conflicts.”

He thanked Bahrain and the IISS for hosting the event, describing it as an important platform for exchanging views and enhancing mutual understanding. “Regional stability can only be achieved through constructive dialogue and mutual understanding,” he added.

Iran–U.S. Nuclear Talks and Regional Challenges

According to Oman News Agency, Al-Busaidi reiterated that isolating Iran has never been a solution, and its inclusion in regional security mechanisms helps ensure stability and joint cooperation. Despite repeated aggressions, Iran has exercised restraint, demonstrating the value of inclusive diplomacy in addressing shared challenges, including security, maritime safety, combating trafficking, and climate change.

He also noted progress in Iran–U.S. nuclear talks, which advanced through five rounds this year. However, days before a decisive sixth round, Israel carried out illegal military actions against Iran, killing hundreds of innocent civilians. “Iran responded with remarkable restraint, as it did in previous provocations by Israel, including attacks on its consulate in Syria, the wounding of its ambassador in Lebanon, and the assassination of a senior Palestinian negotiator in Tehran,” Al-Busaidi said.

He described these actions as dangerous violations of international law, asserting that Israel, not Iran, is the main source of insecurity in the region.

Inclusive Regional Security as a Strategic Option

Al-Busaidi called for the establishment of a regional security framework that includes all countries, including Iran, Iraq, and Yemen, to effectively address shared challenges. “Exclusionary policies fuel extremism and instability, while inclusive engagement builds trust, mutual respect, and shared development,” he said.

He stressed Oman’s continued support for comprehensive negotiations as a strategic path toward regional security, peace, and prosperity, noting that dialogue is the only way to create a more stable and developed future for the region’s peoples.

The conference also included participation from Bahrain’s Foreign Minister Abdul Latif bin Rashid Al-Zayani, as well as Greece’s Foreign Minister and the European Union envoy to the Gulf Cooperation Council.

Al Zayani emphasized that efforts to ensure regional security must coincide with resolving Iran’s nuclear file through renewed U.S.–Iran talks in a way that meets the aspirations of the people of the region.Iran and US Negotiations / WANA News Agenvy
