PM Bolojan congratulates Moldova’s new gov’t, PM

Romania’s Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan on Saturday congratulated the new government of Moldova led by Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu, saying that he is confident that they will work together and will continue to support Moldova’s efforts to open EU accession negotiations as soon as possible.

‘I am confident that we will continue to work together with the same determination for the good of our citizens on both banks of the Prut. The desires of the citizens of the Republic of Moldova, anchored in democratic values, freedom and prosperity, are guarantees of the fact that the European path chosen by our brothers is the right one. The Romanian government and I, as prime minister, will continue to support the efforts of the Moldovan authorities and of the entire society so that the Republic of Moldova opens the accession negotiations with the European Union as soon as possible,’ Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan wrote in a social media post.

The new government of Moldova, led by Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu, was sworn in on Saturday at the Presidency of the Republic of Moldova, in the presence of the head of state, Maia Sandu, and the speaker of parliament, Igor Grosu.

The ceremony took place after on Friday evening the Moldovan parliament cast a vote of confidence in the Munteanu government and approved the governing agenda ‘EU, peace, development’, which sets as a priority objective the completion of the accession negotiations to the European Union by 2028, economic modernisation, the consolidation of the rule of law and improved living standards for the citizens.
