  1. What a world we live in where the POTUS thinks China’s a bigger ally for Murica than Canada.

Canadians need to prepare their anus, because in a few more months Trump’s gonna come for NAFTA/CUSMA and put extratariffs on the other 95% of Canadian goods that are in it. Things aren’t gonna get better.

  2. “Trump says US, Canada will not restart trade talks”

    Obviously, this is a lie.

  3. We’ve been over this for months. He’s going to do anything to stall for maximum leverage around CUSMA review.

  4. The world’s longest undefended border stood for 200 years, but it could not survive maga.

  5. I suggest Canada use the new move: present him with a fake crown. The “highest honor” in all the land, reserved exclusively for the most Kingly of all Men^TM . Then proceed to dismantle his mongrel-tier decisions which would leave a thinking person utterly humiliated but for Trump it’ll be a lovely afternoon to not remember anything about.

Within a few days he’ll be on to starting a few dozen other fires and poisoning the world with his malignancy.

  6. Mexico and Canada just signed a trade agreement since the trans continental trade agreement between Canada, US, and Mexico are up for negotiations very soon.

  7. People dont want to hear it but the fact of the matter is Canada and Mexico’s deep integration into US social, economic and security fabric make them functional dependencies. The power dynamic is so lop sided, neither could refuse if United States ever find it necessary to make serious demands.

  8. Simply amazing how Americans can turn on even the closest allies in an instant. Teachable moment.

  9. He will do anything to soothe his hurt ego and offer any distraction from his domestic policies. It’s trivial to look like a tough guy on the international stage, while the clowns in America joyfully dance to his tune. One needs to remember that he was mentored by Roy Cohn, whose *modus operandi* was to disrupt anything and everything to maintain one’s strategic initiative. Essentially it’s if he can’t dazzle them with brilliance, baffle them with bullshit. He discovered Canada’s vulnerability in threatening their sovereignty. Something he likely regrets not discovering while Trudeau was in office. And his ego and full-throated embrace of American exceptionalism blinds him to the fact that Canada is led by a PM, who has demonstrated his mastery global economics and trade. He lets his cabinet run rampant with their policy proposals and lets his sycophants play at diplomacy, while the depth of his understanding appears to be limited to the stock markets.

  10. As a Canadian, I would rather have no trade deal than a bad trade deal. The US is waging economic warfare. Trump is on record saying this is how he will attempt to make Canada the 51st state. It will hurt a lot in the short term, but decoupling from the US is the best option in the long term. If Trump/US wants to scuttle CUSMA or NAFTA 2 or whatever they want to call it, that’s fine. They better be prepared to pay full price and then some for oil, electricity, etc that they are currently getting at a steep discount from Canada.

  11. Good, they’re a waste of time. Trump isn’t going to agree to a deal because he’s not negotiating in good faith. Carney isn’t going to agree to a deal because he knows it would be political suicide in Canada. I just hope we don’t end up invading Canada to serve Trump’s ego.
