When it comes to fall and winter outerwear, lululemon has built a reputation for stylish, warm and functional jackets. I recently put three of their new and popular styles to the test, including the shopper-favourite Wunder Puff, to see how they stack up in real life. After paying close attention to fit, insulation, layering potential and travel-friendly features, I’ve spotted what works and what doesn’t.
Quick shop: Editor-tested lululemon jackets
Whether you’re in the market for a transitional layer or something that can handle freezing Canadian winter temperatures, I’ve got thoughts to share. Here’s my honest take on each jacket — and which one came out on top. Keep scrolling for my honest review of lululemon outerwear.

Quilted Insulated Liner Jacket (Photos via Melina Brum).
Details: This jacket is made for in-between weather. It’s water-repellent, windproof and insulated with PrimaLoft, which keeps you warm even when wet. The relaxed fit allows room to layer underneath, but if you prefer a snug fit, consider sizing down.
It’s designed with mid-level warmth and zoned insulation to help regulate body temperature. The outer fabric is super soft, and functional details like zippered hand pockets (with a hidden phone sleeve) and a snap-button front make it practical, too.
What I like about it: I wasn’t sure about this jacket at first since it closes with buttons rather than a zipper. But after wearing it out, I can confirm it still keeps me warm and feels secure. The fit is definitely oversized, which works perfectly for layering over my thick, cozy sweaters (which is 95 per cent of my fall wardrobe). It’s one I’ve been reaching for often, especially on chilly days when I want something easy to throw on without sacrificing comfort.
What needs improvement: The only thing I’m not totally sold on is the neckline — I’d love if it provided a bit more coverage — but it’s not a dealbreaker, and I can always add a scarf on chillier days. The sleeves can look a bit bulky around the shoulders, too, though that’s fairly common with an oversized fit. Overall, it still works well for layering and is very comfortable.
Promising review: “Lightweight, stylish, and warm — with perfect bum coverage! Relaxed, baggy fit that runs true to size.”
My overall rating: 4/5

Women’s Wunder Puff 600-Down-Fill Jacket (Photos via Melina Brum).
Details: The Wunder Puff Jacket is designed for super cold Canadian weather. It offers high warmth, with 600-fill-power down insulation that feels extremely soft and plush — basically a wearable duvet. The relaxed, roomy fit provides extra space to layer over your basic outfits and cozy sweaters. It also features a cinchable waist and removable hood, allowing you to switch up its look.
Most importantly, it’s designed for below-freezing temperatures, which will help keep your body regulated all winter. The puffed silhouette will lock in heat while maintaining a lightweight feel, so you can stay warm without feeling weighed down.
What I like about it: I love this jacket and already know it’ll be a winter staple for me. The fabric is incredibly soft and cozy — it honestly feels like wrapping up in a duvet. It’s also super cute, and I’m a big fan of the colour options, especially the neutral green shade that I own. The length hits just right (not too short, not too long), and the sleeves fit perfectly, which is a major plus for me.
What needs improvement: Honestly, there’s nothing that needs improving. If anything, I’d just love it to be a little longer.
Promising review: “This coat is checking all the boxes: warm, roomy, adaptable and stylish! I was hoping the coat would be functional since I mainly ordered it because it was cute, but I am so impressed with it overall.”
My overall rating: 5/5

Featherweight 900-Down-Fill Quilted Jacket (Photos via Melina Brum).
Details: This jacket is filled with premium 900-fill-power goose down, delivering serious insulation with a weightless feel, ideal for layering. It’s designed with a classic fit that falls away from the body and leaves room for other garments underneath.
Not only is it water-resistant, it also boasts practical features, including zippered pockets with a hidden phone sleeve, elastic cuffs and hem and a removable stuff sack, so you can pack it up (great for travelling!).
What I like about it: This jacket pairs really well with jeans, and I love the level of warmth it offers — I can definitely see myself wearing it well into the winter months. If you’re into bomber-style jackets, this one has a similar fit. My favourite feature? It packs into its own pocket, which makes it a great travel option since it becomes super compact.
What needs improvement: Of the three lululemon jackets I’ve tried, this one ranks lowest for me. That’s not to say it isn’t a great piece — it’s certainly well-made and warm, but the length feels a bit too short for my liking, and the style just doesn’t suit me as well as the others.

My overall rating: 3.5/5
The final verdict
If you’re wunder-ing which jacket came out on top — it’s no surprise. The Wunder Puff takes the cake with a perfect 5/5 rating from me. All three jackets are warm, comfortable and plush, but this puffer stands out in every way. I love everything about it, from the silhouette to the fit, and I can’t wait to wear it nonstop this winter. At $348, it can be considered pricey compared to other winter coats, but I think it’s worth the investment (especially when you live in Canada).
