  3. I hope the oil tanker was mostly empty if involved. It would be a shame if all that oil got into the environment.

    Edit: to clarify:
    – The environment in question is The Black Sea
    – Mostly empty oil tankers can explode and burn better, so are more likely to damage facilities around it.

    I should have been clearer as to the (too well) hidden joke behind my text.

  11. I think the fact that a tanker was involved could have some positive consequences.

    Somebody somewhere is insuring those things. Somebody somewhere is either going to pay for this damage, or (as is often the case with insurance) the policyholder will discover that they are totally screwed.

    Either way, the whole shadow fleet business is now clearly entering the Find Out phase of their glorious venture.

    Regardless of the details, it all boils down to higher transit costs for ruzzia.
