(TNND) — Tesla CEO Elon Musk hinted that the electric vehicle company could be unveiling a flying car soon.
Musk appeared on “The Joe Rogan Experience” podcast on Friday where he discussed the prototype unveiling of the Tesla Roadster, revealing that the product demo “will be unforgettable.”
When Rogan pressed for more insight into the new product, Musk referenced German American billionaire and entrepreneur, Peter Thiel once saying that “the future was supposed to have flying cars.” But, as Musk pointed out, “we don’t have flying cars.”
Rogan followed up by asking Musk if he is “actively considering” making an electric flying car and if the new vehicle would have retractable wings.
I can’t do the unveil before the unveil,” Musk said. “I think it has a shot at being the most memorable product unveil ever.
Musk revealed that he is “getting close” to a demo of the Tesla Roadster prototype that would “hopefully” be unveiled “in a couple of months.”
We need to make sure that it works,” Musk said. “Like, this is some crazy, crazy technology we got in this car. Crazy technology. Crazy crazy.
The announcement comes as the Trump administration’s latest budget proposal seeks to eliminate electric vehicle tax credits — a move that could significantly dampen demand for Tesla and other EVs, which have long relied on such incentives to drive sales.
