Just two days after confirming its Eurovision return, reports from Bulgarian outlet Fakti.bg suggest that BNT may be preparing a national selection to choose its act for Eurovision 2026 in Vienna.

Reports of a “major project”

According to Fakti.bg, sources within BNT have hinted that the broadcaster is working on what they describe as a “spectacular comeback” to the contest, following several years away. The article claims that a national selection is being considered to determine Bulgaria’s next Eurovision entry, though BNT has not issued any official statement.

Among the names reportedly discussed as possible participants are Krisia, DARA, Michaela Marinova, and Tita, suggesting that some of Bulgaria’s most recognised artists could be involved if the plans move ahead.

“We want a performance that will make Europe say: ‘This is Bulgaria!’”

Waiting for confirmation

At this stage, no details about the potential format or timeline have been officially confirmed by BNT. More information about Bulgaria’s Eurovision 2026 selection process is expected in the coming weeks.

Bulgaria’s Eurovision journey

Bulgaria debuted in the Eurovision Song Contest back in 2005 with the song “Lorraine” sung by Kaffe; the song came 19th in the semi final scoring 49 points. Bulgaria’s best ever result came in 2017 with “Beautiful Mess” by Kristian Kostov, the song placed 2nd in the Grand Final that year scoring 615 points.

In 2022, Bulgaria was represented by the Intelligent Music Project in Turin, where they sang the song “Intention”, placing 16th in the Semi-Final with 29 points.
