In turn, Queen Mary conveyed greetings from the King of Denmark and expressed her pride in visiting Egypt and attending this landmark cultural event, praising Egypt’s civilization and the museum’s unique contribution to global heritage.
The meeting focused on strengthening bilateral relations, building on the outcomes of President El-Sisi’s state visit to Denmark in December 2024, during which relations were elevated to a strategic partnership. The President emphasized the importance of expanding cooperation, particularly in trade and investment, to support the shared aspirations of both nations for development and prosperity.
Regional issues were also discussed. Queen Mary commended Egypt’s leadership in securing a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and praised Egypt’s initiative to hold a reconstruction conference later this month. As Denmark currently holds the EU Council presidency, she highlighted the advanced level of Egypt-EU relations and the key role of Danish companies in Egypt, expressing a desire to further strengthen Danish investment in the Egyptian market.
The discussion also addressed developments in Sudan, with both sides stressing the importance of intensifying efforts to halt the conflict, curb associated crimes, provide humanitarian aid, and achieve a comprehensive political settlement that ensures Sudan’s stability.
