  1. Both were black, similar age, in the confusion and terror, witnesses might have mixed the two up.

  2. Hopefully the now released chap doesn’t pursue some remediation or go to the media.

It’s clear as daylight why he was stopped, arrested and then released when facts came to light.

Good faith reports at the time by witnesses and victims who probably easily misidentified with the stressful horrific situation unfolding.

    Hope he’s doing okay

  3. So why did they release their nationalities early, surely by the time they released it they managed to go through the train cctv

  4. So! One was black with a huge knife (according to witnesses) and the other was black and unarmed.
Seems a perfectly honest mistake made by the police to me.
Lucky there wasn’t a party of Trinidadian Cricketers on the same train or that could have caused an even bigger stir.

  5. Am I crazy in thinking this guy deserves an absolute slam dunk of a case? Why did the police mistakenly partially-identify two suspects to the public for one of them to be cleared hours later? Initial detention is understandable for securities sake but surely there should be some level of certainty before making any statements to the media.

  6. The first officers at the scene had to try and make sense of a completely non-sensical situation. They are likely to be PCs, maybe a Sgt. They have numerous terrified witnesses who have just been through the most traumatic situation in their life.
It might be a witness said it was two black guys, or it might have been witnesses say it was one black guy. But there are 2 black guys, what do you do, arrest neither of them because you dont know which black guy it was, or arrest them both so you know you have the bad guy and the good guy will be released.

They did the second, which, in my view, was the right call. The innocent guy has been released, and if he is due a couple of thousand for unlawful arrest, it’s a small price to pay for the safety of everyone.

  7. It’s best not to speculate on these cases, let the authorities present the facts. However, I don’t think anyone is listening. They just want confirmation of whatever delusion burdens them at that point in time.

The only people I care about here are the innocent people who were attacked… hopefully they all recover quickly 🙏

  8. It’s crazy how the police racism is now highlighted as multi facited.

    “It was a black guy”

    Arrests all the black guys….

Refuses to acknowledge it was a black guy they arrested.

Let’s face it. This wouldn’t be the case if it was one specific race..
