Bonjour!
I’m thinking about remote-working and visa.

To give you some context, I’m an expat here in France since 2019. I’m getting more attached to France and I think I want to live here at least 3-4 years (or more.) I am a software engineer hired by a French company and I’m from non-EU country. I have a passeport talent (visa).

These days remote work is becoming a norm at least in software companies. I see lots of good job postings here and there. However, to keep my visa (and get it renewed later), I should probably stick to French companies.

And I’m wondering if there’s some rules that I’m not aware of. Like, if I work for a foreign company but still live here in France and pay tax to France, what happens? Can I keep my visa? I tried to search such information, but I cannot find any. (Like [here](https://france-visas.gouv.fr/en/web/france-visas/))

What do you think? Is it too big of a dream? Am I missing something? Will it become possible in the future?

Thanks for reading. I hope you spend a good rest of the year.

  1. I don’t know much either but here are some tips. As long as you can get a French work contract it is fine. It implies the company you’re going to work for has at least offices in France, but not necessarily that it’s a 100% French company.

The second solution would be to become a freelance, declare your business in France and sell your services to the foreign company. https://www.expatica.com/fr/working/self-employment/freelance-in-france-445986/
(There are other statuses detailed in the article)

I have a friend who just started working like this for a US based company.
