This case is very popular in all recent documentaries around that matter. One of the strongest evidences to not trust Big Oil/Coal takes on climate.
Big oil and fossil fuels always knew climate change was a thing. Both sides know, the only people denying it are idiots
They could hire/pay the top scientists at the time. Same as the AI companies today. Great minds that want to play in their own Cocoon.
If a current Exxon scientist felt like leaking their current forecasts…
And it was ignored and buried because the rich want to get richer.
All the years that we could have focused on solutions and innovations that were instead buried by Big Oil.
