  1. President Donald Trump is ramping up his war against the influx of drugs into the country.

The early stages of training for the potential mission — which would include ground operations into the country — have already begun, per the officials, who spoke to NBC News.

The mission being planned for an incursion into Mexico would break with past administrations, which have quietly deployed CIA, military and law enforcement teams to Mexico to support local police and army units in fighting the cartels. Those operations haven’t taken direct action against them.

  2. Trump doubling down on the war in drugs. When there is demand there will always be supply, you dolt

  3. Yet another pointless waste of taxpayer money just like his actions against Venezuela which doesn’t even smuggle many drugs into America but happens to have a lot of oil. Nothing will change unless demand for illegal drugs in America changes.

  4. Trump is the warmonger president.

He’s literally been waging a war of terror on more than half of his own citizens, denying them representation of a functional government, withholding federal funds illegally from state level programs, schools and hospitals.

The war on drugs is their war on their most vulnerable.

His war going outside the US is inevitable.

This is what happens when you don’t arrest criminals.  Their crime becomes normalized.

    And then it spreads.

America is not attacking people in other countries to bring peace.

  5. If Trump does get in a long conflict it would be interesting to see how it goes. Trump has always been able to get in and get out quickly with his foreign policy interventions. I also wonder how Mexico would respond. Getting into an all out war with Mexico would be terrible

  6. The U.S. keeps justifying escalation through the same story We’re protecting ourselves
Once you frame another country’s existence as a threat every step sanctions, raids, now strikes becomes self defense.

  7. I had a buddy get in the army that was supposedly deployed down there in like 2015/16 and apparently got shot in some operation and survived. Hes no longer around to ask about it but he told me about it after he got out. All second hand stuff but I trusted the guy.

  8. His administration couldn’t survive a war with Mexico.

  9. Honestly, about time

We really defending the cartels here at this point?

  10. Generally, one of the ways that dictatorships, oops, autocracies, consolidate their power is through small wars.
