There was this channel 4 documentary when I was a kid where politicians volunteered to live on benefits for a short time and I will never forget the old guy having a melt down in the park outside the block they put him in.
Make these people live the life. Nige went to one of the poshest schools in the country and even the headmaster thought he was a posh cunt. He wouldn’t last a week.

This is why Farage is fronting a political party that is promising to pull us out of conventions that protect human rights. It’s not to be cruel to immigrants, it’s to give the billionaire class the opportunity to reduce workers’ rights and restrict pay and benefits.
The worst part is knowing that a big part of his base audience is made up of people barely above min wage or on some form of benefits and they’ll be agreeing that yes the people not them are earning too much because when they were kids they didn’t earn that much and turned out fine. They’re walking straight into the leopards teeth.
People are already struggling. Reducing peoples wages would lower tax revenue and increase welfare. Stupid idea

OK, then. Here’s a suggestion. For three months, Farage should agree to give up access to his bank accounts, salaries and donations etc and agree to get by on minimum wage. See what it’s really like instead of talking nonsense.

Young people don’t even get minimum wage. This is deluded bollox! You don’t get paid minimum wage until you’re 25 thanks to these bullshit wage tiers in the UK, yet you don’t get any money off council tax, rent or anything. I decided to leave the UK because of this in my early 20s because I had to borrow money to get by even though I was working up to 60 hours a week.
I think all politicians completely ignore and underestimate just how devastating this policy is, especially when you chase a promotion only to still not get minimum wage when you get it… Then you lose motivation to even try too hard to prove yourself because you know you’re only going to get more hours for shite pay.
How are you going to ever stimulate the economy when you’re allowing people to get ripped off so badly? They won’t contribute tax because they don’t earn enough. They won’t want to seek to prove themselves because there is no reward for it. Take it from me, I left the UK because there was no opportunity for me or any young person except working to the bone to be broke, stressed, unhealthy with zero time/energy for my personal life.
And don’t get me started on fucking apprenticeships… Slave labour for pennies that no one can afford to do anymore. Young people are not afraid to work hard, but don’t lie to the fucking country by saying they’re paid too much.

If rents and bills were discounted according to age, then I would agree with him. Unfortunately, if you are young then you face the same overheads as anyone else.
He knows that minimum wage has risen significantly (as it should) in the last 5 years and that it’s closed the gap with people who have degrees and work in their field but are stuck on ~£30K because private companies are exploiting workers.
He’s going for those people hoping he can stir up anger and get them to join him.
He’s hit critical mass with his typical group and now needs to stir up others.
I don’t like the guy but he’s right. Those young people should get off their arses and go make speeches to Trump fans in the US for 30 grand a pop or go on Question Time a couple of times a month and make daft statements. The very least the Workshy youth should do is get some back channel money from Putin or even run for parliament; that money is basically free, you don’t even have to meet constituents. If they’re not even going to be born into a rich family and attend a public school, they deserve all they get.

I’m still surprised about the Ageism and disparity of payment due to age.
Seems completely unfair to expect people to work the same or at times more (due to being young and pushed to do the worse tasks) and nobody to this day complains or changes it.

My rent payments are near 45% of my income. Council tax takes another 15% as does electricity costs. That’s 75% of my income on bills already and I haven’t accounted for all of them here. Still got water, phone, broadband and probably some more I’m not recalling. Fuck off, Nigel.
Edit: Forgot to mention, I’m not on minimum wage, it’s just practically caught up with my job’s wage.
It’s interesting that he’s now admitting that tax cuts aren’t realistic. Feels like he’s looking towards actually taking power rather than pure populism. He might find things a little harder when you have to make the sums add up.
He also said as well he may look at amending the triple lock on pensions and not cut taxes.
So in a nutshell he is either looking to see how ignorant his voter base is by voting for him on policies that will screw them over, or he is starting to realise power is a possibility, getting scared shitless that he will be responsible for something (like the 6th largest economy in the world) and finding ways to make himself unpopular and blame everyone but himself for leaving politics.

Yes, when I look around the world today, the problem is that young people have too much money. They’ve been buying up all the properties and jacking up the rents, buying media companies to spread lies and misinformation, influencing elections in their favour and funding wars. this is so stupid, because what do young people do with a little bit of extra cash, they spend it in local stores / pubs etc, so it stimulates other businesses, having them only be able to pay rent on a room and never go out does not help growth at all.
