  1. Lol, not sure which is most embarrassing, failing to double check your email before sending, or having a “journalist” from the National in your autocomplete making this possible in the first place.

  2. It’s behind a paywall. Which seems a little mean spirited, considering how little effort it took to get the story.

  3. All of our info logged on a digital ID database will be super duper secure though

  4. >The breach occurred when a Downing Street official CC’d one of our journalists – who shares a name with a Home Office employee – into an email thread on Sunday afternoon….The lengthy email thread saw officials from various UK Government departments – including the Home Office, the Department for Transport, the Cabinet Office and the Justice Department – and the police discuss the latest updates on the major incident throughout Sunday afternoon.

    >… the emails also included information not yet released to the public or press at the time – including that the man who was arrested “had no contact” with Prevent, the UK Government counter-terrorism program, and that he was “not known” to security services.

Tldr, sounds like an embarrassing security breach, but nothing of actual importance revealed and presumably no one sufficiently important to bother naming.

  5. Sounds like The National were consummately professional about this.

Also seems obvious that this guy was paranoid schizophrenic

  6. Roll up! Roll up! Digital ID! Your personal details and information is secure with us!
