  1. Link to the [Commonwealth War Graves Commission.](https://www.cwgc.org/visit-us/find-cemeteries-memorials/cemetery-details/4007424/baku-memorial/) who do a great job of logging and maintaining these all around the world.

    > The memorial can be found within the large cemetery near Parliament Building, which also houses the tomb of the unknown warrior. This will be found on high ground overlooking the bay. A funicular railway can be taken from the promenade. The memorial itself will be found in a small secluded section to the left of the Avenue des Martres. Set on a lower terrace, the Baku Memorial is some 100 metres behind the Turkish Memorial.

    > The memorial commemorates 47 Commonwealth casualties of the First World War who died in Azerbaijan. 45 were buried in Baku British Military Cemetery and 2 in Shusha Armenian Cemetery whose graves are now lost.

  2. Interesting to see “Serjeant” being the spelling, rather than “Sergeant”. Never seen that before. Apparently The Rifles regiment of the Army still use that spelling today.

Soldiers/officers from the Scottish Highlands all the way to Punjab on there, which surprised me (even though I’m aware there were many soldiers from British India).

Was about to write about not knowing that Light was an actual name (Death Note?), but realised it’s Light Infantry lol.
