Rumors continue about the names that will take part in Melodifestival 2026, the competition through which Sweden chooses its participation in the Eurovision Song Contest 2026!

The Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet in a new article reveals two new names who will probably compete to represent the Scandinavian kingdom in Vienna next May. They are Korslagda and Indra Elg.

Korslagda

Korslagda kukar (crossed penises) was the band’s original name. That’s what the punk rock band has been calling themselves since it formed in 2019. But earlier this fall, the band decided to remove the “kukar” from its name. On Instagram, the band wrote that the organizers didn’t dare book them and that everyone  was talking more about their band name than their music:

“Parents email us because they love our music, but they don’t want their kids to see that word when they listen to our music.”

According to Aftonbladet, the name change is also related to the opportunity to reach a significantly wider audience through, for example, Melodifestivalen.

A few weeks ago, Aftonbladet reported that Korslagda, under their new name, were candidates for Mellodifestivalen 2026, but that they had not yet received any definitive information. Now that has changed. Just before last weekend, they received the call from SVT.

Aftonbladet also revealed that Korslagda wrote the song together with Kristofer Strandberg, who last spring co-wrote KAJ’s “Bara bada bastu.” Korslagda play punk rock in Swedish, and a person contacted by Aftonbladet describes the Melodifestivalen song as a future classic that will be sung at both après ski and pre-party events.

Indra Elg

Also ready for Melodifestivalen 2026 is 22-year-old Indra Elg, who participated in TV4’s Idol in 2020 and reached the final, but was the first to be eliminated from the competition.

This summer, she signed a contract with independent record label Emperial, which has had success at Melodifestivalen with Meira Omar and Liamoo, among others. Now, several sources confirm that Indra Elg has won one of the coveted spots at next year’s Melodifestivalen.

On December 2, SVT is expected to hold a press conference and officially confirm the songs and artists that will compete in Melodifestivalen 2026.
