I don’t see how it would even work. I use Signal, you can’t build in a backdoor to an open source algorithm (technically you can, but people will see it and stop using it). I use a Swiss based mail service, so that probably won’t be affected (I guess).
I’ve read some articles and it looks like the legislation has very few specifics of how they would even try to scan certain platforms.
People will find ways around the legislation anyhow.

Why is there a police pinching boobs?
Eli5?
I want all social media to be banned and removed.
There is too much bullshit going round and it’s annoying as all hell anyway.
If you want a messenger that will not be controlled, use Matrix. Matrix is a protocol (like email) and allows the use of many different clients. Since there is no *provider* that can be forced to implement a chat control, it will not happen. And if one of the messengers implements it, you can just switch to another client.
Look here for messengers: https://matrix.org/clients/
I recommend Element (the most popular) or SchildiChat (looks more like a traditional chat client).
No
No
Fuck you
No
Stay away from my private communication
Fuck you even more
This is a slippery slope
Government backdoors **don’t fucking work**.The TSA travel sentry locks are a prime physical example of this. Anyone with a remotely decent 3D printer or CNC machine can reproduce the reverse engineered keys.
Furthermore, automated scanning will inevitably yield false positives and false negatives. Imagine being flagged or even reported for several false positives?
This bullshit is forced on all European citizens by pocket-lining bureaucrats who don’t understand security, technology or even privacy at all. Violating every citizen’s privacy to fight this one crime (child pornography is their excuse now, but you just KNOW they’ll eventually start abusing it for other things too) is completely disproportional.
Remember how ANPR cameras were installed nationwide with the excuse “but it’s to track flagged/stolen/wanted vehicles”? Then it became “ooh we can do average speed checks with this”. And now it’s becoming “ooh we can use these for toll roads and creating gated communities only pass holders may enter”. These privacy breaches always start with one excuse, then they invent new ways to keep tabs on citizens.
It will be the exact same shit with this: once the access is there, they’ll want to start using it for other things (Let’s find drug slingers! Oh let’s scan for signs of unregistered employment!) and maybe even at some stage having your messaging processed by an AI to profile people.
So what if they check my dick picks. Nobody cares. Privacy is overrated.
Nw, there’s a way around it.
The stuff the government comes up with is always flawed.
Though I do mind them taking my privacy. You never know when a dickhead in power can use it against you, just like they did with the monetary system towards Russia and also in Canada. I mean, I didn’t think Canada would pull that shit.
Giving them more power, bit by bit, without thinking twice or even 5 times, is utterly ridiculous.
It’s like cooking a frog in hot water. The frog doesn’t feel the temperature rising until it’s dead.
Amazing thing is that people are refusing to admit that it will happen or it will effect their lives.
For years we have been bad mouthing china and now we have chosen ecsct same path . totalitarianism democracy or so called democracy. .doesn’t matter if we can vote or not. But if we are not heard or our lives are not protected , this isnt democracy
There is always an excuse behind spying on people since they can’t openly do it .
It.is the first step in what will be conplete control of our comma
It’d very easy to build backdoor in any app.you either force the company to build backdoor or just kill the app. There won’t be many ways around it I am afraid .
Only techies might be safe but only for a while. Normal user won’t have a clue on what is happening with them.
Welcome to the future
I dont know what its about but i dont really care to be honest. Im not that active online
I hate it, I was born and lived in a tyranny country and the only reason that I moved to the EU was to have freedom but as everyday passes the EU is becoming more controlling and restricting more freedoms.
Why EU citizens vote for these politicians and political parties? They cannot understand what they are doing?
They just want to spy on their own citizens. They use the child porn argument because who can be against child porn? I don’t have child porn so it doesn’t impact me, right? Sure, right up until they decide to scan for something else. Religion, work, sexual preference, political affiliations, …
The people drafting these proposals don’t know how any of this works, they just think it’s a good idea and don’t care about the implementation or the impact on their constituents.
This whole thing reeks of mass surveillance and is something a dictator would do.
Really wish there was more of a public pushback against this, and despise how many still parrot the “if you got nothing to hide” BS.
It would be bad if it got through, but I doubt it will.
The European commission made this misguided proposal, but it needs to pass through the European parliament and the council of the European Union to become law, which I doubt it will.

How about no
I pity the person that will have to go through my chat conversations.
Countries like Hungary in the EU are a prime example why this is a fucking bad idea.
Just more tools for a dystopian society.
Finally we would be able to block and fine those anti-vaxxers.
Or search for the Russian bots commenting on facebook.
Or other people that spread the fake news of the day.
The Belgian government is barely able to run itself, why anyone would want trust it with their private data is beyond me.
The only correct answer is **no**
