Europlátano celebrates ten years of consistent banana exports from the Canary Islands to Switzerland. “Europlátano entered Switzerland at the end of 2015 through one of the country’s leading distribution networks. The project focuses on the unique quality of Canary Island bananas, fostering direct and trusted relationships with customers, and emphasizing the importance of agricultural connection in delivering value to consumers,” the company stated.
The project started with a small group of growers on the island of La Palma and workers trained specifically for this client at one of the centers. “Today, we have growers producing Canary Gold bananas in La Palma and Tenerife, and trained professionals at the centers on both islands who are able to produce and pack this product for various supermarket chains in Switzerland.”

“The Swiss market has very high standards for fresh fruit, and both the growers and the group’s processing centers have responded by providing certified fruit of the highest quality, from the farms to the consumers’ homes.”
Over the past decade, Europlátano has exported nearly 5 million kilos of fruit to Switzerland, maintaining a stable and direct relationship with clients at the destination. Last year, through week 43, shipments to Switzerland increased by 65% compared to the same period the previous year.

“Europlátano has a complete farm-to-export chain, ensuring fruit uniformity, efficient processes, and greater value for producers. Certifications such as IFS Food, GlobalG.A.P., and GRASP ensure compliance with strict European standards.”
This milestone demonstrates the company’s deliberate internationalization: “Switzerland was one of our first markets. Europlátanos has expanded its export strategy to other profitable European destinations, strengthening its role as a key exporter of bananas from the Canary Islands.”

“Reaching 10 years of consistent shipments to Switzerland is more than just a business milestone for us; it proves that a profitable, high-quality, and fair agriculture is achievable for growers. Ensuring a minimum price for good producers reflects our dedication to their long-term success. The Swiss market showcases that when you prioritize quality and transparency, the formula for success is effective,” Europlátano emphasized.
“Europlátano will continue to focus on markets that appreciate origin, quality, and responsible farming.”
