1. Donald Trump lacks a comprehensive plan for a potential ground invasion of Venezuela, a former assistant secretary of state claimed.

   He warned that deploying the U.S. military to mitigate the influx of drugs into the U.S. from cartels is not only costly but also likely ineffective and opens the U.S. up to other national security threats.

2. Of course it does. Venezuela is a nation with tremendous natural resources. America is an imperial power and has consistently tried to usurp the sovereignty of every nation south of the Rio Grande. A ground war will further their hegemonic aims.

3. Creating a pointless war makes a lot of sense if your true aim is to pretend there’s an emergency that allows Trump to suspend the rule of law. Chaos is a feature in this administration, not a bug.

4. It’s not supposed to make sense.
