Hey everyone,
I sent a package from the US to my family in Berlin. According to USPS tracking, it says:
“Your item arrived at the collection point for pick up at 3:31 pm on November 1, 2025 in GERMANY.”
But my family says they haven’t received any notification, slip, or delivery notice. They also don’t know which post office or location they’re supposed to go to for pickup.
Does anyone know what happens once a USPS package arrives in Germany? Does Deutsche Post or DHL take over? How can I or my family find out exactly where to pick it up?
Any advice or similar experiences would really help. Thanks

Try enter the tracking number of the package on the DHL website and see what status they report.
There are a variety of possibilities, when sending packages between the US and Germany (in either direction). The starting point should be your USPS tracking number. Enter it into the USPS tracking system and find as many details as possible. You might find that DHL assigned a German tracking number to the same package, it might’ve happened the parcel entered Europe via a different hub and the national post of that country continues with the shipment.
If there’s no non-US tracking ID anywhere in the system, try the DHL tracking page with your USPS tracking number, if you find any other tracking ID, enter it into google to find the tracker for it (might be DHL, French or Dutch Post or anything else).
Given the message the package might be delivered to … someone, dropped at a post office nearby, at a packstation or might be stuck in customs at some hub in Europe, or it might not have left the US in the first place (I found international tracking absolutely unreliable and all my experiences were pre-tarif-chaos).
Good luck!
