***The Telegraph reports:***
Elite Ukrainian soldiers were killed and injured when [Russian](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/world-news/2025/11/04/russia-dancing-on-bones-of-victims-as-bombed-mariupol-theat/) missiles struck an awards ceremony on Saturday, according to reports.
Ukrainian authorities have launched an investigation into possible negligence over the incident.
It is not clear how many soldiers died in the attack, which was confirmed by Ukraine’s Operational Task Force East, a military formation responsible for the country’s eastern sector.
Dmytro Sviatnenko, a Ukrainian journalist, said his brother – an [elite](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/world-news/2025/11/03/ukraine-strikes-elite-russian-unit-on-black-sea-oil-rig/) drone operator – was killed during an awards ceremony. Volodymyr Sviatnenko, 43, served in 35th Separate Marine Brigade.
“He and his comrades were gathered on the parade ground to be awarded. They gathered the best. The best pilots and infantrymen of the brigade. In order of command. In open terrain. Ballistics flew in. The story of negligence repeated itself,” Mr Sviatnenko said in a post on Facebook.
“He endured hell in Krynky, Kurakhove, Marinka, Krasnohorivka … He was killed by Russians. [But not on the battlefield](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/russia-ukraine-war/). Deep in the rear,” he wrote in his post.
Kostiantyn Huzenko, a Ukrainian photographer and serviceman also with the 35th Separate Marine Brigade, was killed in the attack, sources told the Kyiv Independent, an online newspaper.
The same missile strike killed four civilians, including an 11 year old and a 14 year old, and six people were injured, in nearby villages, according to Vladyslav Haivanenko, the governor of the Dnipropetrovsk region.
A team of investigators from Ukraine’s state bureau of investigation (SBI) is looking into whether safety protocols were followed during the air raid alert, and whether soldiers were given proper shelters at the base.

How have they not learned by now
Again? Seriously?
LOL, lmao even.
Wait is this fr? It kinda seems like Russia propaganda. Like why would Ukraine be having award ceremonies in the middle of war time? Aren’t the awards for after the war?
This cannot be real, it beggars belief that idiocy like this could possibly exist in Ukraine this far into the war.
Ah yes, the telegraph. If there is bad news for Ukraine you can be sure the telegraph is first to print.
The repercussion will follow soon : Slava Ukraine 🇺🇦
So fucking idiotic come on man
Why is this still happening? If you do hand out awards, you do it far, far away from the frontlines… preferably in some bunker or large building. This is wartime.
Why on earth were they even holding an awards ceremony in Dnipropetrovsk? This is a frontline oblast, one that’s partially occupied, and most of the oblast is within range of russian surveillance drones. They should be holding these ceremonies in Lviv or Ternopil (outside ballistic missile range). Or better yet, don’t even hold these ceremonies in-person. Just have zoom meetings instead.
Sounds more like a Russian set up- I cannot believe that anyone would be so stupid especially after this happened before
I’ll take the award after the war…just increase my rank and pay in the mean time.
Oh I’m so sorry about this.
go for the Kremlin.
Maybe hold the ceremonies until after the war has ended.
If you are elite, you dont go to award ceremony during wartimes. Unless in bunker and even then…
this doesn’t seem to be 1st time.
1. don’t congregate elites
2. there’s got to be a mole somewhere
