No ones interested what the plastic yank has to say
Well said Anthony
“Elderly man makes sweeping statement about something he is clearly ill-informed about.”
In response by Mr Hopkins, no fucks were given
According to the article he said “he believed society was overusing medical labels to describe normal aspects of human behavior” which I think a great many people would agree with. He didn’t dismiss neurodivergence, he did say that he thought labels were being mis-used.
‘Slammed’. Lord give me strength.
Did someone wack him over the head with a hardback copy of the DSM-5 or something?
>Hopkins’s third wife — Stella Arroyave, 69, an antiques dealer from Colombia — suspects he is autistic. “I’m obsessed with numbers. I’m obsessed with detail. I like everything in order. And memorising. Stella looked it up and she said, ‘You must be Asperger’s.’ I didn’t know what the hell she was talking about. I don’t even believe it.”
…
>“Well, I guess I’m cynical because it’s all nonsense. It’s all rubbish. ADHD, OCD, Asperger’s, blah, blah, blah. Oh God, it’s called living. It’s just being a human being, full of tangled webs and mysteries and stuff that’s in us. Full of warts and grime and craziness, it’s the human condition. All these labels. I mean, who cares? But now it’s fashion.”
I’d respond the same if someone googled something I did and immediately labeled it as Asbergers.
He’s a tortoise, this stance is unsurprising
He’s like 90 years old, when he was born they still thought you could bleed diseases out of people
He allegedly has Asperger’s and as I understand it not being able to recognise it in yourself is a diagnostic indicator.
He’s in his 90s. He comes from another era and understanding.
There’s no malice in it.
People need to stop trying to slam, cancel or destroy people they disagree with.
I think he’s wrong. I still think he’s one of the best actors of his generation & a remarkable creative mind
Slammed by who
He’s very very old. Give him a break.
Sounds just like my 60-something year old Tad, who passed his Aspergic traits onto me yet insists nothing is odd about either of us.
This is like when the most dysregulated parents you can see tell their kids, “You can’t possibly have ADHD and autism because you’re just like me, and I’m not!” And then that parent struggles to keep a clear head, bounces their leg constantly, and has all of their walls covered in Star Trek memorabilia plates.
He’s OLD, really old. When he was a kid it was perfectly fine for Dave down the road to be abit strange or for Peter to have a very specific collection that nobody was allowed to touch. People have always been neurodivergent but didn’t need the labels because it was easier to function in that society.
Addressing the people commenting here stuff along the lines of ‘he’s old, that’s a normal thing for an old person to believe’: the reason it’s noteworthy is it’s always disappointing when someone we like says things that hurt our feelings.
On top of that, when an old person uses racial slurs, we shouldn’t condone that either, do you see the point?
It just shouldn’t have been reported on to begin with. The only thing it’s doing is upsetting people or causing arguments online.

Old person has archaic opinion, shocker!
