  1. Old runes, Elder Futhark (2nd to 8th centuries), converting them to letters: ækanm?

The meaning of each of those letters:
    yew-tree, ulcer, god, need, man.

Not like the ones used in old Icelandic:

  2. Ékanm? The first rune stands for “í” or “é” then next is “k” then “a” then “n” then “m”. Though I assume they weren’t trying to spell something rather what each rune means, first gives protection, second rune gives control, third is order, meaning, inspiration. Fourth rune is a war rune to encourage courage and wisdom. The fifth rune intelligence and rational. So I assume that is rather what they were thinking of getting that tattoo.

I simply looked up the runes individual meaning, though typically when done in that way it is meant to be like it is used as an alphabet that is.

  3. I don’t see what is so urgent here.. your friend got some half-baked “runes” tattoo, like many have said it does not mean anything at all which is not a surprise.

  4. I went and got a hearing from the wise person in my village and showed him this picture and he said “Ahh the long lost transcript of our people is finally found just as the ancient prophecy forto……..” then i zoned out and started thinking about something I saw on tv, I snapped back to it when i heard him call my name repeatedly.
Your friend needs to take a dangerous journey through the highlands of Iceland and search for the long lost monks or something like that, i got distracted again when he was repeating himself .

  5. Er ekki kominn tími á að fara að taka á þessum sömu útlendingapóstum sem detta hérna inn oft í viku?

Sömu myndir af sömu stöðum og allir taka, rúnir sem þýða ekki neitt, “how do I translate this word for my novel”, og “I named my DnD character Thrandurinn Gullveigsson, is this name accurate?!”, og “Do Icelanders eat food, genuin question lol”

Eða kannski er ég orðinn allt of gamall fyrir internetið…

  6. I have some bad news for your friend. The closest I can translate to is something like Ekanm.

But evne then the first rune which I think is meant to be E is backwards. or if it is meant to be an S it is kinda wrong too.

So in short either Ekanm or Skanm. Sadly neither of those are words, not even in the old tongue I believe.
