President Abdel Fattah El Sisi met on Sunday, November 2, 2025, Hungary’s Prime Minister Viktor Orbán.
During the meeting, President El-Sisi praised Hungary’s support, under the leadership of Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, for Egypt’s positions within the institutions of the European Union.
Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán commended the Egyptian role in combating illegal migration as he met on Sunday with President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi in Egypt.
Orbán voiced his appreciation for Egypt for hosting around 10 million refugees and displaced persons from conflict zones and also highlighted the pivotal Egyptian role in consolidating peace and stability in the Middle East and Africa.
Discussions focused on bilateral cooperation, which covers key fields, as well as Egyptian-European relations.
They also reviewed the developments of the Ukrainian crisis with Orbán outlining his perspective on ongoing efforts to reach a peaceful settlement to end the conflict.
President El-Sisi reaffirmed the special nature of Egypt’s relations with both Russia and Ukraine, emphasizing Egypt’s commitment to supporting a peaceful solution that would bring an end to the war and establish lasting peace and stability.
El-Sisi lauded the growing momentum in bilateral relations with Hungary, particularly since their elevation to the level of a strategic partnership in February 2023.
El-Sisi highlighted energy, railway carriage manufacturing, communications, and education as key areas of cooperation between the two countries.
The meeting also underscored the importance of Egyptian-European relations, following the first EU–Egypt Summit held in Brussels last month.
El-Sisi commended the advancing economic cooperation and political coordination between Egypt and EU member states.
He emphasized their shared views on many key regional and international issues, including the situation in Gaza, the ceasefire implementation efforts, the Sudanese crisis, and the fight against illegal migration.
El-Sisi commended the support that Hungary offers to the Egyptian positions within the EU institutions.
Orbán visited Cairo to take part in the landmark inauguration of the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM), the world’s largest museum dedicated for a single civilization – ancient Egypt, alongside world leaders, royals, prime ministers and high-level officials on Saturday.
During his meeting with El-Sisi, Orbán voiced his happiness at visiting Egypt for the second time in less than a month, following his participation in the Sharm El-Sheikh Summit for Peace held on 13 October.
He also conveyed his country’s keenness to further enhance cooperation with Egypt across all fields and invited El-Sisi for an official visit to Hungary in 2026.
