>Mr Afriyie, who has held his seat since 2005, said: “I will of course pay any tax that is due.”
Perhaps he should have tried doing that in the first place?
Shouldn’t really be surprised to see just how far some if them will push the rule breaking.
It’s a sad state of politics that this doesn’t even come as a suprise, pwhat ever happened to integrity?
The party of fiscal responsibility everyone.
should have asked the Sunaks for advice.
Has he tried eating cheaper food yet?
If he had managed his finances better, he wouldn’t be in such trouble. Too many lattes, Netflix subscription, avocado toasts
Did the Russian cheque bounce?
Don’t worry I’m sure he can live on universal credit, it’s more than enough right?
Oh no

I wonder if he was an IT contractor and has got caught out, like many have, with some of the IR35 type schemes accountants came up with. I think a few TV people have had similar issues with HMRC.
To be fair, if the property is the only way he has to pay the bill, what other choice do HMRC have? £3m houses don’t just sell in 5 minutes. Hope they’ve got a charge on the property secured though to prevent any shenanigans?
The rules for thee are not for me.
Do you think he’s aware of budget food? A bag of pasta costs 50p. Maybe after the dust settles, he’ll even be able to afford the energy to boil it.
Not to worry, as long as he swears off the avocados, he should be able to save up and pay the tax bill in a week or two.
Someones Russian money gig has been roubled.
Remind me what happens if a poor person doesn’t pay taxes?
