Two Democratic women in key governorship races led to two wins for the moderate left. In New Jersey, former Navy helicopter pilot Mickey Cheryl gained a convincing victory by focusing on cost of living issues, including energy prices. While Cheryl promised to govern for all, regardless of party, she also made digs at the US president. We’re going to follow Lady Liberty’s beacon. We’re not going to give in to our darker impulses. Here in New Jersey, we know that this nation has not ever been, nor will it ever be, ruled by kings. We take oaths to a constitution, not a king. Meanwhile, Abigail Spanberger took victory in Virginia’s governor race, flipping the governorship to the left. The 46-year-old former CIA officer will be the first woman to govern the state following 74 men. Her victory speech touched on the historic nature of her win. And just a few minutes ago, Adam said to our daughters, “Your mom’s going to be the governor of Virginia.” I can guarantee those words have never been spoken in Virginia ever before. Spamberger’s campaign focused on economic arguments against Donald Trump’s policies, in particular, his slashing of the federal workforce. Virginia borders the nation’s capital, Washington DC, and many of the state’s constituents have been affected by the cuts. A moderate Democrat, as a lawmaker, Spamburgger has on occasion voted against her party line, allowing her to separate her image from her parties. Democrats will be hoping to carry the momentum from these wins into next year’s midterm elections.

Democrats scored sweeping victories on Tuesday in the first major elections since Donald Trump’s return to the presidency, winning high-profile contests in New York, Virginia, and New Jersey. The results provided a much-needed morale boost for the party as it prepares for next year’s congressional midterms.

  5. If the current Regime does not address the cost of living with specific policy goals they are in serious trouble.
    He is underwater on all topics, even immigration.
    All the distraction and drama…people are sick of it.
