    There’s a famous speech from 1932 where FDR mentions the robber barons made the same threats. “We’ll take our ball and go home” is the best they got. And it’s bullshit. They’re too greedy to give up huge NYC market because of slightly more tax.

    Their New York office is about 14,000sf which is big enough for roughly 100-150 employees.

    Is this supposed to be a threat? No one will notice or care if Starwood moves 150 jobs out of New York City.

    …by which he means that it isn’t feasible in a capitalist system to create housing and other essential infrastructure with unionized workers that have reasonable job safety, security, and living wages.

    He is THIS CLOSE to understanding that this realization is what leads us to reject a capitalist system, at least for essential infrastructure.
