  1. In an exclusive interview with CNN’s Christiane Amanpour, Prince William – who had traveled to Brazil ahead of the COP30 climate summit to unveil the finalists of his prestigious Earthshot Prize – said [young people needed to see climate “solutions”](https://www.cnn.com/2025/11/05/uk/william-climate-change-amanpour-brazil-intl-latam?utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=missions&utm_source=reddit) to give them hope for the future.

“Climate anxiety is a real thing. I hear about it wherever I go now, lots of (the) younger generation are saying, ‘Well what kind of a planet are we going to inherit?’” the prince said Wednesday, at an event in Rio de Janeiro. “The younger generations need to be heard more.”

William said he is glad that he can tell his children – Prince George, 12; Princess Charlotte, 10; and Prince Louis, 7 – that climate progress is being made, thanks in part to some of the work championed by the Earthshot Prize.

“For my children particularly, knowing that the planet is going to be in a healthier, better state because of the brilliant people in this room, is something that I love to tell them when they go to bed: ‘It’s going to be great. Your future is going to be as bright as futures gone by,’” he said.

  2. I hope he’s right. Awarding the Earthshot Prize to companies wanting to find climate solutions is a start. I wish more governments and businesses would step up and do the right thing. (looking at Trump and the Republicans.)

  3. My children’s future would also be bright if I were a billionaire with an entire country convinced that God wanted me to be rich. What a prick.

  4. I wouldn’t have pegged Williams as the type who believes in fairy tales, but well, generations of regimented Anglo-Saxon inbreeding may have done a number on that bald noggin of his.

  5. Our kids have already passed 1.5C. We have likely locked in +3C now, without a massive pivot. Sure it might help the kids sleep at night, but at the moment, it is not true.

I tell my kids one day they will take over as old generations pass. And then they will have the power to shut the exhaust off quickly.

  6. Then he’s lying to his kids.

As has been observed as nauseam, the problem isn’t a lack of technology. It’s a lack of political will to deploy it and end the industries that are killing the planet.

The Earthshot boils down to one thing – rich people desperately trying to find technological ways to run a 21st century, $100 trillion capitalist economy *with constant growth*, but magically without wrecking the environment and the climate.

And it’s completely futile because if you understand even the basics of capitalism and the logic it applies to the environment then it’s very quickly obvious that THERE ISN’T ONE!

  7. He also tells them a rabbit goes all around the world delivering chocolate eggs in one night.

  8. Kids, we can pollute and produce methane and carbon dioxide all we want – it’s scientists’ job to clean up the mess we’re making – not our problem.

  9. … While there are worldwide movements (active in the UK, no less) that are actively sabotaging science and education?

Get out of here with that bullshit!

  10. Am I the only one who thinks rich pricks like him only make remarks like this to convince the rest of us to have more kids?

They just want more wage slaves.
