I mean, maybe at some point people will have to choose between a beautiful country and an overfilled piece of land, so immigration and population growth (the real problem worldwide) will slow down naturally ? So that, maybe, UDC could focus on improving housing and transportation and creating more jobs offers ??

Just a quick word to say real life results will probably be much tighter than the results of this poll. Case in point, Reddit is a left-leaning bubble.
SVP has every year the chance to get the migration ministry into their control. Please go the constructive way first before throwing initiatives around that may irreparably damage our realations to the EU.
I’ll vote in support of it. We’re already in a housing crisis, we won’t have enough energy supply since we’ve banned nuclear and we’re falling behind in alternatives/green. Costs are sky high, employment is full but thousands are looking for jobs, motorways are full, trains are full.

This is stupid. The population has a good chance to never reach 10M or peak close to that that number naturally. Typical populist initiative.
In the meantime the number of people over 80 will have doubled to reach a million + in 25 years and people over 65 will do a +50% (1.8 to 2.7). We will go from 1 retired for 3 active today to 1 retired for 2 active. And that doesn’t depends on optimistic natality forecasts, all those people are alive today.
I hope we get some initiatives to build retirement homes and medical facilities in time. Maybe train some health personnel too.
I for one would be happy to trade racists for immigrants to keep Switzerland under 10 million…
What happens when it passes and then we have a massive baby boom of Swiss people (I know, highly realistic scenario). Will the federal council hand out condoms?
How do I vote if I approve in principle a measure that reduces immigration but think this particular one is a bit idiotic?
