  1. The Canadian progressives in charge haven’t gotten anything right in some time. Don’t see that changing now.

  2. Good , they have niche skills , we got enough tim hortons workers.

  3. Easier said than done. Salaries are half, taxes double for skilled folks in Canada(if they somehow find that high tech and niche jobs as per their skill). And better weather in US. plan looks more like a political gimmick given how the previous h1b program had not worked. Would be better if canada could focus to retain their own talent from moving to US(Canada to US is biggest brain drain of the world), than focusing on poaching who chose US in first place

  4. Good. The geniuses will still come to the US. The ones who are 80% as good as an American, but will work for 50% the pay and never complain when they get treated badly by the corporations are the ones we don’t need more of.

  5. Lol. They’d have to want to come to get poached. Shit pay. Shit benefits. High cost of living.

They probably don’t want to come.

  6. Unless Canada can keep up with US salaries, it’s a no go for me. ( 20yoe big tech )

  7. Bad idea. Ask the IT folks in the US. Firms hire H-1B because they are cheap, not because they have niche or specialist skills. Go ask anyone who is displaced or having to accept lower pay. The only winner is the corporations at the expense of Canadians. PLEASE STOP!

  8. I have a family member who is a paediatric general surgeon and she cannot find a job in Canada. This is wishful thinking, there’s no jobs here due to bloated budgets, billions of dollars of investment moving down to the US, and red tape

  9. The real question is, would H1Bs be willing to come to Canada. 😆

  10. Our wages are at least 50% lower and our taxes are much higher. Sounds like we have this delusion that we’re so much better.

As a Canadian I’m looking into working on a TN visa in the US. I can make 4X my salary and pay less in taxes.

Don’t let headlines fool you, neither of our left or right wing political parties have done anything but allow us to become an economic shell of what we once were
