The Albanese government has yet to reach an agreement with South Australia over how to jointly fund a plan to host next year’s UN climate summit in Adelaide, as concerns over its $1 billion price tag continue to stoke doubts within federal cabinet about the bid.

The government has been struggling for months to break an impasse with Turkey over hosting rights for next year’s United Nations Conference of the Parties summit, which needs to be resolved in the next fortnight or else the event will revert to Germany.
