Cooperation between Kazakhstan and the Netherlands in the poultry sector is taking off in a new direction. Supported by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Food Security and Nature, the Netherlands Enterprise Agency, and Topsector Agri & Food, through the Strategic Exhibitions Program, this partnership brought together leading Dutch companies and key Kazakh industry players on a huge Dutch Pavilion during the Agroworld-2025 Exhibition in Almaty, Kazakhstan.

The Agroworld exhibition took place from 29-31 October and brought together 174 companies from 25 countries. They presented a wide range of innovative solutions, from crop and livestock production technologies to automated irrigation, processing, and storage systems for agricultural products. The Kingdom of the Netherlands is a key partner of the event, this year 28 Dutch companies took part, of which 14 were represented at the Dutch Pavillion.

During the official opening of the exhibition, Agricultural Counsellor Arie Veldhuizen participated alongside Aslan Abdraimov, Vice Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation, and other distinguished guests. In his opening remarks, Mr. Veldhuizen emphasized our shared responsibility to build sustainable food systems worldwide, highlighting the importance of the fair as a platform for knowledge exchange, joint educational initiatives, and the introduction of advanced technologies that contribute to making agriculture more sustainable and profitable.

Opening of the Dutch pavilion at Agroworld-2025, Kazakhstan

Following the ceremony, the Dutch Pavilion was officially opened by Mr. Wolleswinkel, President of the Dutch Poultry Centre, together with Arie Veldhuizen, Agricultural Counsellor of the Netherlands to Kazakhstan, and Aslan Abdraimov, Vice Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation of Kazakhstan.

Dutch companies including Aeres.nl, Dutch Poultry Centre, Fancom BV, HatchTech Incubation Technology, HATO Agricultural Lighting, Impex Barneveld B.V., JBT Marel Poultry, Muller Beltex BV., Trouw Nutrition, Valco Industries, Inc., VAV Conveyor Components & Solutions, Vencomatic Group, and QS Vets B.V. presented cutting-edge solutions for every stage of the poultry chain. From climate control and automation to incubation, feeding systems focused on animal welfare, and advanced processing technologies, Dutch expertise was on full display.

The first day included a specialized seminar titled: “Dutch solutions and innovations for your poultry business”. Organized by the Embassy of the Netherlands in collaboration with the Dutch Poultry Centre and moderated by Arie Veldhuizen, the session showcased various Dutch poultry companies with innovative solutions, which could contribute to the development of Kazakhstan’s poultry sector.

A particular highlight was the presentation by Aeres Training Centre, which emphasized the vital role of education and training in enhancing knowledge, developing skilled labour, and enabling the adoption of these innovations. The seminar was very well received by the Kazakh audience.

MoU between Kazakh Poultry Union and Dutch Poultry Centre

A key moment of the exhibition was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Kazakh Poultry Association and the Dutch Poultry Centre. The agreement outlines joint efforts for improved collaboration, by sharing expertise in poultry farming, implementing innovative technologies, and support the training of skilled professionals in the field.

This agreement marked the start of a new chapter in bilateral cooperation, creating the opportunity for expanding professional partnerships and improving productivity and sustainability. During this ceremony, the head of Food and Agribusiness of the EBRD bank in Kazakhstan also participated and presented potential areas for collaboration.
