No Pay Till Brooklyn (Gov’t Opens)

I’m going to be uncharacteristically brief. Uh tomorrow I will be bringing two bills before the Senate. Uh they both have to do with the shutdown and congressional bay. The first bill is the no shutdown paychecks act. The second bill is the withhold member pay during shutdowns act. The first bill would provide that as long as we’re shut down, uh, and I’ll explain why in a moment. As long as we’re shut down, no member of Congress can be paid and the the money will not be will not be reimbursed at a later date or repaid at a later date. The second bill to address any 27th amendment concerns will say during a shutdown, members of Congress will not receive their pay, but their pay will be escrowed and they will receive it after uh the government is opened back up.

  15. We elect them for a set time period. If they are not at work within that set time period, they should not get paid. I wouldn’t get paid for taking a day off, they shouldn’t either.

I can guarantee you that both on demon rat side and on the republican side that that's what the public wants.And since we're supposed to be the ones that the government is listening to this needs to go through because no senator or congressman should receive pay when the government is shut down.President trump's already not taking pay for doing his job

This shouldn’t have to be passed by congress this should be automatic as a consequence of the government, unable to make a decision to keep the government open, especially when everybody else is suffering have we forgotten the fact that the Congress and the government are public servants, public servants to the people if the people aren’t getting paid then they damn well shouldn’t be getting a penny either until they get there stuff together, this is inexcusable that any of them are receiving one thin dime when they are the cause of the problem. I can guarantee you the shutdown wouldn’t have lasted as long as it has had they not been getting paid from the start

  34. I support this bill and Senator Kennedy. These members of senate are individually wealthy and 99.9% of them can go a whole year+ without getting paid!

  35. when I don't do my job, I lose my job, I don't get a vacation., These people are wealthy, having no pay for a month isn't going to make a DENT. I'll be impressed when congress truly gives themselves a penalty that affects them. How about they don't get to eat until they pass the bill? I bet that will motivate these assholes
