Taylor Momsen didn’t tell Gossip Girl costars she was leaving show mid-season: ‘I kind of just Irish-dipped’

    > Momsen, who left the show in the middle of season 4 to pursue a career as a singer-songwriter, explained, “They all knew I was making music. They all knew I had a band. I would play them stuff because I was working on the first record while I was on the show, so I would come in and play songs … and, you know, that kind of stuff, but I don’t think anyone knew how serious I was at that stage.”

    > She explained that because of her “lock-and-key contract” with the CW and Warner Bros. Television, exiting the show was no simple task.

    > “It was a very long battle of me arguing [with] everyone and going, ‘Get me outta this. I can’t do this anymore. This is killing me. I have something else I want to do with my life, and it has nothing to do with this, and I can’t be stuck here anymore,'” she recalled.

  4. As a musician, I would think being on Gossip Girl would be a boost for her music career. I mean, what a platform. Seems pretty short-sighted and narcissistic.

  5. Favourite Taylor Momsen memory is seeing The Pretty Reckless in Glasgow and her going “We hear Glasgow’s the craziest place in all of England!” and having no idea why people started booing.

  7. Hahaha every story I’ve heard of her, admittedly not a lot, she seems hilarious.

    I BELIEVE it was that “Gilmore guys” podcast, but they told a story of there was some.tiff between blake.lively and the woman that plays her friend, & Momsen almost got drug in but she goes, “yeah this is weird I dont care,” & just walked away. God, I gotta try & find it now.

  8. Interesting. I don’t know too mutch about it… but back then-ish I heard that she was a problem and didn’t bother memorising lines

  10. Actually saw The Pretty Reckless open for AC/DC earlier this year. I liked them. She worked her ass off trying to build up the crowd energy as the opener.

  11. When Kim and Matt joined in with The Pretty Reckless for Only Love Can Save Me Now, I felt I was hearing the new SoundGarden. No one can replace Chris, but Taylor did an amazing job carrying that sound forward.
